In the year 2000 we received
Fundo Palca form our parents,
Dr. Percy Bellido Nuñez and his wife Mrs. Adelina Palaco
de
Bellido. The farm and land were inoperative for 13 years and
we decided to take up the challenge and put in back in
working order.

We carried out a detailed analysis, with the help of hired
specialists, of the farm and the animals, the grazing
terrain, the workforce, and the buildings (infrastructure),
etc. Our expert produced a 40 page report with their
recommendations and objectives to be achieved over a time
spam of 8 years. We have adhered strictly to this program,
and for that reason, now 5 years later in 2005, we have
achieved 70% of our assigned objectives.
In these 5 years, as a result of modernized breeding and
genetic engineering improvements, we now have a revitalized
stock of 2500 alpacas, 3 of which became champions after
being born on the farm. Also we have acquired 12 Brown
Swiss cow and 1 reproductive bull. Our infrastructure
consists of a house for the family, storage sites, and 5
small houses for the shepherds. The main house is still
under construction (approximately 50% finished). The
shepherds´ diet is based on milk, cheese, alpaca meat,
potatoes (also grown on our land), and trout (we have a
small fishery). The electricity is supplied by a generator,
and the water is pumped from a natural spring.
We expect that in the very near future we will be able to
export reproductive alpacas and also offer export mating
services, as our advisor is doing his doctorate in transfer
of embryos and artificial insemination in animals of the
camel family. We would like to thank our parents for the
confidence they placed in us, and they know that we are
determined to make a success of the venture.
